Gertrude Ziebarth Bloom Endowment
This scholarship was created by Thomas and Reynold Bloom in memory of their mother. Gertrude Ziebarth Bloom graduated with her teaching credential in 1949 as a part of the first graduating class of Long Beach State. This scholarship is awarded to students in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study or candidates for a teaching credential in art, special education, health, languages, science education or a closely related field .
Criteria:
- Students in their junior or senior year of undergraduate study or candidates for Education Specialist Credential (preliminary or professional) or Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art Education, Health Science, Languages Other Than English, or Science Education.
- Students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Students must demonstrate financial need.
- In the case of undergraduate recipients, preference will be given to graduates of either Polytechnic High School (Long Beach, CA), Excelsior High School (Norwalk, CA), or Gahr High School (Cerritos, CA).
