Juan R. Morales Jr. Scholarship

Juan Morales is an Associate Director in the Systems Engineering group within the Systems Security Department at Raytheon, bringing over 24 years of experience in aerospace and defense systems. His work has spanned leadership roles in programs such as Advanced Fighter Systems, B-52H Bomber Modernization, and various space and airborne initiatives, with a strong focus on systems integration, program protection, and RF subsystem design. Juan holds a BS in Electronics Engineering Technology from DeVry University Pomona, an MS in Electrical Engineering with a focus on RF Communications from California State University, Long Beach, and an MBA from Cal Poly Pomona. A graduate of Raytheon’s Systems Engineering Technical Development Program, Juan is deeply committed to STEM education and community outreach, serving through organizations such as SHPE, Upward Bound, and Latinos Unidos. He has led numerous initiatives including math enrichment programs, STEM career workshops, and student mentoring at institutions like UTEP, CSULB, UCI, and local schools. He also serves on the CSULB Alumni Council Executive Committee and is an advocate for graduate education and early career development, while remaining active in his community as a youth soccer coach.

Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate financial need;
  • CSULB Cumulative GPA 2.0 or higher;
  • All undergraduate engineering majors are eligible;
  • All class standings at the time of applications are eligible;
  • Must be enrolled full-time;
  • First Generation;
  • Demonstrate an involvement with one or more of the following engineering organizations/programs: Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and/or BESST (Beach Engineering Student Success Team).
