Drs. James E. & Patricia E. Newby Teachers for Urban Schools Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of this gift is to support future educators with financial need in the Teachers for Urban Schools program. The Teachers for Urban Schools Initiative prepares teachers who are committed to improving life
outcomes for students in urban schools and who reflect the demographics and shared lived experiences of students in our local schools.

  • Minimum Unit Load: Enrolled in at least 1 unit
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Student Level/Program: Undergraduate, Post-bac, & Graduate, excluding doctoral students
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must be pursuing an initial teaching credential.
  • Major/Program Requirement: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Credential, or Master’s program in Education
