The Santamaria-McNulty Memorial Teacher’s Scholarship
Concepcion Santamaria was a loving mother and devoted wife whose unwavering sacrifices and hard work were dedicated to giving her children a better life. Like many immigrants, she deeply believed that education was the key to opportunity and prosperity. Through her love, faith, and determination, she inspired her son to complete high school, to earn a bachelor’s and later a master’s degree. Virginia (Jinx) McNulty McNamara was a highly intelligent educator, wife, and mother. With her wry sense of humor, Jinx faced the challenge of balancing work and family with style and laughter. She had a keen sense of justice and equity and instilled in her students and children an appreciation for the privileges they enjoyed and a desire to assist those in need. In loving memory of these incredible women’s enduring belief in the power of education and the legacy of their selfless devotion, this scholarship is established in their honor to support first-generation college students in pursuit of their educational dreams —and to pay tribute to their hardworking, loving parents who make those dreams possible.
