The Eugene W. Opittek Engineering Scholarship

The purpose of the Eugene W. Opittek Engineering Scholarship is to support and inspire engineering students in their academic journey. Eugene W. Opittek `65 is an esteemed alum of CSU Long Beach and UCLA. Having started his academic career at Santa Ana Community College, Eugene knows firsthand the dedication and perseverance required as a transfer student and a working student. His successful career at Hughes Aircraft, where he made significant contributions in a range of areas from advanced avionics to advanced automotive technology, is a testament to the value of a strong educational foundation.
Eugene’s motivation for creating this scholarship stems from his desire to give back to the community that supported him and to encourage the next generation of engineers. He hopes to empower students to achieve their full potential, just as he was able to, and to foster a spirit of innovation and excellence in the field of engineering.

Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate financial need;
  • CSULB combined GPA 2.9 or higher;
  • Undergraduates or graduates majoring in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science;
  • Class standing at the time of application: Junior or Senior;
  • Enrolled full-time.
