The Ofelia Lujan Memorial Endowed Award

The family of Ms. Ofelia Lujan have created this award to honor her memory. Ms. Lujan was an immigrant, a single parent, and a deep believer in education as a social equalizer. The goal of the award is to assist students with their educational expenses.

Criteria:

  • Must demonstrate need and be considered Independent for the purposes of financial aid. You can only qualify as an independent student if you are at least 24 years of age, married, on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, financially supporting dependent children, an orphan (both parents deceased), a ward of the court, or an emancipated minor;
  • Open to all majors;
  • Undergraduate Sophomore, Junior, or Senior;
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA or higher;
  • Full Time enrollment (12 units minimum)
  • Re-entry student (five year gap between the last time you entered college or high school);
  • Demonstrate how your degree will help change the trajectory of your life and the life of your children;
  • Strong preference for a first-generation student;
  • Preference for a student parent who is part of a one-parent household.
