William Purcell

William Purcell has worked for 40 years in the American Defense Industry for companies such as TRW, Hughes, Northrop, and Lockheed. He was sent to Germany on several occasions in the 1970’s and 1980’s. In the 1990’s he was sent to Russia and Germany under the employ of the US Air Force. His interest in German and Russian was a response to these work assignments. More recently, he has worked for Boeing as a consultant. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Translation at Mills College.

William endowed this scholarship in memory of his former German professor, Wilm Pelters.
