Impact

Vern’s sister, Jackie Ring, created the Dr. Vern Eveland Memorial Scholarship to honor her brother and continue his legacy of inspiring and supporting Microbiology students. She knew her brother would have wanted to help relieve financial pressure from graduate students earning their master’s degree in Microbiology— giving them more time to invest in their research, internships, and career opportunities. The scholarship is awarded to a Microbiology graduate student in good standing, who has a demonstrated dedication to science, balanced with a sense of altruism as evidenced by volunteerism, community service, and/or dedication to a cause.
