Tomy Jung

Tomy Jung

This scholarship was created in loving memory of Tomy Jung, a talented young man who also suffered early academic difficulties. However, with help, guidance, and determination, Tomy was moving toward success before his tragic and untimely death at the age of 24. This scholarship was established by John and Phyllis Jung in 2002 in memory of their beloved son.

Impact

While academic scholarships are generally awarded to students with the highest overall academic performance, such a practice does not provide encouragement and opportunity to other students with equally outstanding ability, who due to temporary adverse circumstances, have some periods of poorer academic achievement.

It is in recognition of the value of encouraging and supporting such capable individuals who deserve a “second chance” that the Tomy Jung Scholarship recognizes Psychology majors who for whatever reasons, suffered early academic problems, but has since made sustained, substantial academic improvement and demonstrates commitment and promise for professional work in Psychology.

The Tomy Jung Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one to two students annually.
