Tacy Hunter ADK Zeta

It took some time for Tacy to find her way to Long Beach – living in Wyoming, Colorado, Minnesota, and Illinois where she received her BA in Psychology at Northwestern. But since 1953, her roots in Long Beach are deep. She earned her teaching credential, Master’s Degree, and psych credential from CSULB and worked for LBUSD almost 35 years, first as a teacher and then as a school psychologist.

When Tacy retired in 1988, she began a remarkable tenure of Long Beach volunteerism, continuing into her 90’s. She is a LB Fire Dept. Ambassador giving safety lessons to school children, is a docent at the Aquarium of the Pacific, and is a LB Senior Police Partner – a liaison between the police and the elderly.

Her service extends to ADK-Zeta and for 60 years she has been an active member, twice President and Scholarship Chair for 10 years, making sure finances didn’t stand in the way of qualified, dedicated students becoming teachers.

“Diamond Sister” Tacy Hunter exemplifies what Alpha Delta Kappa represents – educational excellence, altruism, and scholarship. To recognize her 60 years of distinguished service to ADK-Zeta, we honor her with this scholarship.

The College of Education (CED) expresses gratitude to all scholarship donors who continue to enhance the quality of education students experience at CSULB.
