Minerva Davis

Minerva Davis, mother of nine children, lived on a rural farm in Illinois. She had an elementary school education and served as a paymaster for teachers in one-room schools which dotted the countryside. When Minerva was in her mid-forties, her husband passed away and she never remarried. She passed in 1956. One of her children, Edna Davis Hobbs, was the mother of Mr. Jamie Hobbs who created this scholarship in honor of his grandmother. Mr. Hobbs considered his grandmother to be a wise and ethical person. This scholarship supports students who participate in an ethical course or certificate program.
