Michael L. Wood Memorial Scholarship

It is exceedingly rare to encounter an individual who is as astute as they are proactive— especially amongst the young, Michael Wood, or “Mikey” as he liked to be called, was one of those paragons, whose fire for social change burned as brightly and regularly as the Dunhill cigarettes he inhaled. Always the stalwart, he never stopped participating in activities or events aimed at rectifying the innumerable injustices plaguing our country. His passion and vitriol were infectious, catalyzing the many who crossed paths with the caffeine-fueled, nicotine-smelling champion.

Although Michael passed away before his time, his spirit to dismantle oppressive structures and replace them with more equitable ones will live on through this eponymous scholarship. To honor his memory, The Michael L. Wood Memorial Scholarship will provide financial aid to students with disabilities who are involved with campus student groups in hopes of inspiring the next generation of community leaders.
