Mel and Shirley Brown
The Mel and Shirley Brown Student Development Fund was established by CSULB College of the Arts alumnus, Shirley Brown, and her husband, Mel. Shirley earned a B.F.A. in Interior Design from the Department of Design. Mel and Shirley also established endowments to provide operational support and faculty development support within the Interior Design program.
Impact
The purpose of the fund is to provide support to students in the studies and reward students for excellence in Interior Design through portfolio review. The fund was established in 2009.
In 2016-17 five recipients received scholarships for various amounts totaling $4,600.
