Linnea Bucher

Linnea Bucher

During her time at CSULB, Linnea was dedicated to her studies, taking 17 units most semesters and working hard to achieve her goal of obtaining a degree. Outside of school, she found time to tutor children and volunteer with the Long Beach Community Hospital.

After Linnea graduated from CSULB, she accidentally embarked on a career in international trade. Although she had not originally planned to become an Import Specialist and Supervisory Import Specialist with US Customs in Los Angeles, she began a meaningful career. Following her time in US Customs, she found additional opportunities working for the U.S. Department of Commerce and eventually, becoming the National Customs Manager at Hyundai Motor America.

Linnea gives back to CSULB because she appreciates the education she received. Upon getting more involved with the campus, she became aware of the financial difficulties many CSULB students face. While Linnea was studying at CSULB, she and her husband were fortunate enough to have financial assistance, something she found essential to being able to go to school full-time and pay for their expenses. Now that she is in a position to give back, she feels it’s her turn to assist students and make a difference in their CSULB experience by providing financial support.

Although Linnea studied Sociology while at CSULB, she sees value in STEM related majors and their ability to provide a more lucrative career in today’s world. She seeks to assist future STEM professionals through her scholarship and empower more women to seek out careers in STEM related fields.

The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics expresses gratitude to all scholarship donors who continue to enhance the quality of education students experience at CNSM.
