Jeanne and Ken Stone
Jeanne earned her master’s in educational administration from CSU Long Beach after earning her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. Jeanne met her husband Ken while earning his Bachelor of Architecture at Cal Poly. Following graduation from Cal Poly, Jeanne was an elementary classroom teacher for 8 years and then served as a Language Arts Specialist for Santa Ana Unified School District. From there she joined the School of Education at UC Irvine, where she taught in the multiple-subjects Credential Program in Language Arts and Mathematics for 25 years. Jeanne also developed and taught a Children’s Literature course offered within the school for students across UCI. In addition, Jeanne served for a number of years as a Lead Trainer at both the national level and for the Credential Program at UCI for over ten years.
In addition to his career in architecture, engineering, and construction, Ken is a past president of the California State University State-wide Alumni Council, a member of the Cal Poly Foundation Board, and a member of the Cal Poly President’s Council of Advisors, among other higher education related activities.
Following the completion of their three sons’ education at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Jeanne and Ken chose to continue to support students with their education with multiple student scholarships at Cal Poly, CSU Long Beach, and UC Irvine.
Jeanne and Ken are formally retired following 40 plus year careers with three young granddaughters, however, continue to actively support Cal Poly and CSU Long Beach in a variety of engagements where they share of their time, talent, and treasure.

Impact
The Pathway to Teaching Scholarship was established by Jeanne and Ken Stone to provide scholarship support to an undergraduate student in the Multiple Subject Credential Program who plans to become an elementary school teacher.
